The creators of Opera, the web browser, have created a version for the xo. It has some bugs but it offers more flexibility than the browser that comes with the machine. It isn't that difficult to install. I also hear that you really need Opera to get online at T-mobile hotspots. I haven't confirmed that.
Here is the announcement:

And here are the instructions for installing it on the xo, with notes from me in [brackets]:
And that's it! Now type in "opera" while still at that root command line and it will load and run. [from http://www.olpcnews.com/software/third_party/install_opera_on_xo_laptop.html]
- from a terminal window [the terminal window is an "activity" - the activities are at the bottom of the screen on the home screen; terminal is a box with a dollar sign in it]: type in 'su' by itself or 'sudo -i' to become root [su worked fine for me]
- on one line, type in: rpm -vi http://snapshot.opera.com/unix/olpc-544/opera-9.12-20070122.10-static-qt.i386-en.rpm
You can also install opera as an additional activity. Instructions here:
Hit the enter key after each bold entry. Wait for the prompt to reappear before going to the next step.
- download the files by typing:
wget http://people.opera.com/howcome/2007/olpc/opera-activity.tar.gz
- uncompress by typing: tar xvzf opera-activity.tar.gz
- get out of console by hitting ctl+alt+home (circle with the small dot at the top left of the keyboard)
- restart sugar by hitting ctl+alt+erase
- find opera in the activities menu and browse.[from http://xolaptophelp.com/index.php?topic=306.0]
You don't have to make opera an activity. You can just go to the terminal and type "opera" (without quotes) to start it.
